Disability is Diversity!
The Disability Ministries Committee believes all people are created in God’s image and have sacred worth. We believe that it is vital to the body of Christ to celebrate and incorporate the gifts and graces of disabled persons. Click here for our brochure.
Our Mission...Through advocacy, education, and empowerment the Disability Ministries Committee of the United Methodist Church will lead the denomination in creating a culture where people with disabilities are fully included in all aspects of worship, leadership, ministry, and mission.
Within this website you can find information about the Committee’s work, how to get involved, and many resources. The materials will increase your capacity to fully include disabled persons and those who accompany them. We strive to break barriers of ableism to help everyone find a place of true belonging.
The primary focus of our website is for United Methodist individuals, local churches, annual conferences, organizations, and agencies. However, we welcome people of all faith traditions to use our materials. You will find that our site is based on Wesleyan theology of grace, love, and full inclusion of all persons. Our materials are created by or in partnership with individual clergy and lay persons with lived experience.
Please visit our social media sites for current news, videos, discussions, and upcoming events. Our links are located at the bottom of each page.
